How to Collage Canvas

Materials

Acrylic painting on canvas The painting shown is a cloud self portrait. It is 8x10 on canvas

Acrylic Gloss gel medium You can use other acrylic mediums. I like gloss as it doesn’t fog the image

Brushes Soft ones will work well for this application

Board For this demo I am using plywood. You can use other wood boards

Brayer This is a printmaking brayer I had in my studio

X-acto Knife You will be using this to trim the edges of the canvas

I like to trim two of the sides of the paintings so I can align them to the board’s edge. I have found that sometimes the canvas or linen shrinks. For this reason I don’t cut out the entire image. I also now make my paintings a little bit bigger than the standard size.
